The
Huguenot Society of the Founders of Manakin in the Colony of Virginia announces
its
twenty-ninth annual scholarship awards,
to be presented at the National
Assembly, June 2010 in San Antonio, TX.
| WHO MAY ENTER: | Undergraduate
Students or High School Seniors College Graduate Students |

| All applicants
must submit proof that they are either currently enrolled or have been accepted
to a college or university. High school seniors must send a copy of a letter of acceptance from their college or university. Students currently enrolled in a college or university must send a copy of their latest transcript or a letter of recommendation by one of their professors. | |
| WHAT TO ENTER: | An Essay |
| Each entrant must write an essay on the history and/or impact of the Huguenots in Europe, Colonial America, the Colony of Virginia or the settlement at Manakintowne, Virginia. | |
| HOW TO ENTER: | |
| Undergraduate category must be a minimum of ten (10) double-spaced pages. Graduate category must be a minimum of twenty (20) double-spaced pages. All essays must have footnotes or endnotes, and include a bibliography. | |
| DEADLINE: | April 1, 2010 |
| SUBMISSION: | Two

| The
essays will be judged by the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and
Culture, College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia. The $1000 awards will be paid directly to the individual winners for use in further education. The Society reserves the right to first publication of the winning essays, in the publication, The Huguenot. The author will retain all other literary rights in the manuscript. | |
