THEIR NOBILITY
-- OUR HERITAGE
It was back
in the sixteenth century
That these noble ancestors of ours,
Began to protest for what they believed
And started resisting the "higher powers".
They were met
with open hostility,
Ridiculed, despised and made fun of.
They were referred to as "THOSE HUGUENOTS",
And from the Church were not absolved.
But they stood
strong, tall and proud.
Remaining true and faithful in their belief.
Knowing it might even result in death,
Which to many would bring great relief.
They would say,
"It's good to be rid of heretics,
Trouble makers they all were for sure."
Not realizing they were even ready to die,
To obey His Word and keep it pure.
Yes, they were
the early Protestant reformers,
Who with Luther and Calvin broke the yoke.
Enduring persecution, death and extreme poverty,
With many fleeing France by land, sea and foot.
They landed
on shores of other countries,
Pleading for asylum, grace and mercy.
Yes, these were our Huguenot ancestors,
Who exemplified true faith and nobility.
So let us honor
our Huguenot ancestors,
And may we all remember them.
Thanking God for our great heritage,
Which was made possible through Him.
Gloria
